They would either reference Metal Slug or King of Fingers being made by SNK, and Capcom being the house that Ken and Ryu helped build. if they are under the age of 20, they'll probably say Street Fighter 4 was too hard, and ask what the heck a SNK is.
i'll stop short of giving the most unimportant history lesson of all time and just say both companies are tied at the hip as far as 2D fighting game fans are concerned. Some people feel the occasional collaboration between the two aren't occasional enough(or should I say, aren't frequent enough)
Because of that, fan games are bound to emerge from the cauldron of impatient wizards who can never get enough of a moderately good thing. SvC: Ultimate is the product of that. This "game" was "created" as the proverbial silver spoon to be placed in the mouths of those rich with lust for old school two dimensional brawling goodness.
Note my strategic use of quotation marks. That's not something I'd overlook in editing(lies), it's by design. Speaking of design, the steps taken to make this game could have been used by anyone with search engine skills, a hard drive, and a fearless mentality when it comes to downloading random files from the dirty, dirty internet.
Step one: download Mugen.
Step Two: use Yahoo/Google/Ask or any other good search engine to search for mugen characters and stages.
Step three: sell it for profit to people who dig quantity over substance, and have no idea that Mugen is a freeware game engine(I assume someone tried to sell this thing, because I've see box art and ISO downloads).
To paraphrase those Gieco Advertisements: It's so easy, an illiterate forum troll could do it!
A short breakdown of what this game has: A ton of characters, not much to get excited about(400 in total, no balance.), a ton of stages and music to go along with said stages. In shorts, it's a cluster of ingredients that would normal combine to made a fighting game.
Should anyone waste time downloading this 800 + Meg. monstrosity? Nah. Even if you enjoyed Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 because of the 56 character roster, you would be best served to pass on this smorgasbord.
The reason this thing is such a bust is because of what characters were used to fill the roster. It's obvious the guy who made this Mugen compilation was a failed Pokemon card collector. He must have figured since he couldn't find any rare cards, he may as well focus on feeling all special by hunting down rare Mugen content. Gotta catch 'em all!
This flawed logic is what hurts the already dwindling Mugen community. You see, most(if not all) "rare" Mugen characters are hard to find for a reason. They aren't good. They are so bad, those Mugen Warehouse sites that as so frowned upon by most of the community, they wont even host the mess.
I guess if you like to spam IRC chat rooms with requests for incomplete characters that are oh so freaking leet, yeah, go right ahead and check this game out. If you want substance, balance and something that has the feel of a complete game, look elsewhere.
