Mugen Site: God of War Carnage

Yet another ambitious Mugen project is underway. The cool thing is, this one doesn't involve Dragon Ball Z or Naruto! Kratos, from the popular Playstation 2 series God of War, is in the process of becoming a full fledged Mugen combatant.

What exactly does this mean, you pretend to ask? We can't be completely sure yet. Hopefully it means one of the baddest mofo's in recent gaming history will come to save us all from cheap and poorly made "god" characters, and put a major hurting on the lot of them.

On second thought, I wouldn't really be that interested in seeing such a thing. There are already more than enough statistically maxed out fighting game characters in Mugen as is. There's really no point in making yet another uber fighter who is neigh impossible to defeat.

This is the problem that meets the God of War Mugen Team. They have taken up the task of recreating the likeness of a highly athletic berzerker, who is known for overcoming great odds on more than one occasion. There are steep expectations here.

On one hand, you would want to include a few signature maneuvers from the games. Kratos without his trusty Blades of Chaos just isn't God of War. He would still be a good opponent, but the move set would be lacking without the ability to use those blades as grappling hooks to pull the enemy toward you.(among other things that can prove useful with Blades of Chaos)

On the other hand, some adjustments must be made in this Mugen conversion. Zeus wasn't strong enough to defeat Kratos, but Shingo Yabuki must at least have a slight chance in winning a one on one battle against him. Accurate "power levels" aren't that important when it comes to a single character. if the plan was to create a full fledged God of War fan game, then insane stats and attributes may be par for the course.

You can't please everybody. There are some who complain about the sprites not being perfect, while others complain about the God of War series being overrated and generally horrid overall. It's just opinion. You can't let opinion halt progress. Just take it in stride, correct any problems are prevalent, and move on.

While this is still a work in progress(meaning it isn't done yet, thus posting comments asking for a download link would be mighty redundant), there has been some information and screens posted on a few Mugen communities. Kratos will have the ability to switch weapons on the fly, and use magic attacks such as the Atlas Quake.
