What About Hugh of St. Victor - Mystical Writer?

Christians will commemorate St. Victor on July 21. Now, Hugh of St. Victor was a medieval philosopher, theologian, and mystical writer. Hugh of St. Victor formulated a sort of code of laws under the School of St. Victor, which basically governed the soul's progress to the union of God. Hugh of St. Victor believed that knowledge is not an end in itself; rather, it is a stepping-stone to a mystical life using thought, meditation, and contemplation.

Hugh of St. Victor wrote that thought seeks God in the material world, meditation discovers God from within us, and contemplation knows His supernatural and intuitive powers. These, according to Hugh of St. Victor were the "three eyes" of the rational soul. In Hugh of St. Victor's mystical theology, the supernatural reigns supreme. Perhaps Hugh of St. Victor came back as Harry Potter in another life.

What About C.S. Lewis?

On July 21, 1958, C.S. Lewis wrote in a letter, "What the devil loves is that vague cloud of unspecified guilt or unspecified virtue, by which he lures us into despairor presumption."

On July 21, 1925, John T. Scopes was found guilty of teaching Darwin's theory of evolution in his Dayton, Tennessee classroom. The sensational trial lasted 12 days and Scopes was fined $100, but the conviction was later overturned.

Neat way of looking at it. I was just going to hibernate on the 21st. I don't know what a muggle is, but I'm realizing I need to learn.
