Mugla: A Small and Pleasant City

Mugla is located in southwest Turkey. The city has the longest coastline amongst all the coastal cities of Turkey. There are a lot of tiny islands close to the land. Mugla city center is about 20 km far away from the sea. The most famous holiday resorts of Turkey are in Mugla. The coastline is also called the Turkish Riviera. Fethiye, Bodrum, Marmaris and Datca are amazing places to see and stay. There are many English people living in these districts of Mugla. The summers are usually hotter than 90 °F as the winters are windy and around 60 °F. The city of Mugla is a lot nicer place than Antalya, the tourism capital of Turkey. Unfortunately Antalya is known better because of the Turkish government, who advertise Antalya as the best place in Turkey.

The civilization started in Mugla around 10000 BC. The Greek, Persian, Alexander, Byzantine and Ottomans Empires were the ones who controlled these beautiful lands. There are many historical places to visit in Mugla; Loryma, Bodrum Castle, Erine, Amnistos and Bodrum Historical Theatre are few of the many. Mugla's main source of income is tourism but there are also marble quarries and fruit gardens that support the economy. The pine honey of Marmaris is also very famous and very tasty. Don't forget to taste if you are there, I am pretty sure you will take few jars back to home. Dalyan is one of the places that Caretta Caretta turtles lay their eggs. The area is protected and around June, you can go and watch the turtles. Blue Cruise is a boat tour that takes you to the gulfs of Mugla and it is very pleasant as you spend almost 7 days in a ship, seeing all those beautiful places from the sea. Oludeniz lagoon is a very famous place and known worldwide. It is also one of the most famous paragliding places in the world because of its view. Marmaris has a huge marina and in summers it a very crowded place. Most of the people in Mugla talk English. The nightlife is amazing in Mugla. The Halicarnassus Disco is one of the biggest open air discos in the world. The street of bars is also very attractive and active place, as you can find clubs that play every kind of music. There are direct flights from Europe to Dalaman Airport which is located in Dalaman District of Mugla. You can also take a bus from Istanbul to Mugla.

There are a lot of things to write about this city but it is better to go there and see. You will have a very pleasant holiday and maybe someday you might decide to continue you life there.
