I personally know people that make over 6 figures per month in the industry. Yet, I also personally know dozens of people that quit after working their business for a year that never recovered their initial investment.
It is unfortunate to see some people making very large amounts of money and so many others struggling just to have their business pay for their monthly order of a product or service.
I think that a big problem is that many new people are brought into mlm after hearing the best case scenarios of someone making 5 or 6 figures in their first month. The new people hope to make that kind of money and give up after 2 or 3 months when they see that they are not on track to achieving the same results that quickly.
Then they think mlm is a scam and that it doesn't work and tell everyone they know about their bad experience on being bamboozled. Well, the important question here might be...did they do the 'work' part?
It is called network marketing. It is not netdonothingandgetrich marketing, or netthisiseasy marketing, or netmysponsorwilldoalltheworkandnowimrich marketing.
Look at what it really took for those top earners to make the money they did. The top income earners that I know either spoke to 20 to 50 new people a day from their warm list, from the street, at grocery stores, gas stations, flea markets, the mall, restaurants, subway stations, had big contacts in China or Japan or Europe and did this without letting up for at least 6 months straight, or called quality leads 6 to 10 hours a day for 6 months, or were just very good with the internet using techniques like "rejection free marketing" and worked it consistently over several years.
But no matter what strategies they used, they worked hard at it and did it consistently for one to three years or more.
The only people that I know that made really big money in their first month were people that have already been in the industry for several years and just joined a new program and either:
1. Brought a huge existing team over from another company.
2. Already had an enormous contact list (even ranging as high as hundreds of thousands) and had an unfair advantage because of their existing reputation and track record.
Beginners need to know that mlm is a great opportunity, but that it will require work and persistence. They need to plan on working their business consistently, even if for only 10 to 20 minutes each day, for several years before they expect to make the really big money.
Sorry to pop your balloon if you thought you would get rich quick with mlm. The truth hurts. But it is also exciting to know that it is possible to gradually build a business over time that has the potential to give you financial freedom even into your retirement years.
