It's that time of year again when we scramble for those tax forms and receipts to complete our federal and state income tax. We all know this time of year is a headache for some and a blessing for others. Some people had babies that they can claim while others had children leave the nest and they are no longer able to file them on their annual taxes. Well for those that have a hard time finding the right place to pick up tax forms. There are several places you can go to find the right forms, and you better hurry because some places once they run out they do not restock.

One famous place to pick up tax forms for the 2009 tax season is your local Federal building. In Chicago they have all the forms you need to complete your taxes in a timely manner and you could even have them do it for you for free. The location of the Federal building in Chicago is 230 S. Dearborn Street Chicago, IL 60604, the number is (312) 566-4912, and the hours are Monday-Friday - 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. they have extended service hours on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. If you live outside of the Chicago area visit the IRS site for further locations.

Another place to pick up tax forms is the Chicago public Library in Chicago. There are various locations that will assist you in finding all sorts of tax forms from 8453 electric filing to 4503 request for copy of tax return. Visit your local Public library or search the CPL website, for specific times of operation in your area.

The post office has always been a great place to pick up the forms you need to get by the tax season. Their operation hours are normally 9am until 5pm daily, and some locations are open on the weekends, check your local directory where you are to find the proper times of operation. Not only can you pick up the forms here you can also drop them off here, even on the day the taxes are due. Also on the final day that taxes are due the post office will stay open extended times, so all those last minute filers can get their taxes in on time.

There is also two non profit organizations in Chicago called the Tax Counseling Project (TCP) and the Tax Assistance Program (TAP). These two programs are offering free tax preparation assistance to families earning less than $45,000 and individuals earning less than $20,000. The organizations have professionally trained volunteers and they are in various communities in the Chicago area. Both non profit organizations provide trained volunteers at 30 sites in Chicago and 23 sites outside Chicago. To locate sites in the Chicago area you can call the Chicago non emergency number at 311, and outside Chicago, call 312-409-1555 or 312-630-0273.
