Multiples Magazine: A New Resource for Families with Twins, Triplets and More

Candice Cain
As a soon-to-be mother of twins, I searched the internet for everything that I could find that was twins-related: magazines, books, websites... anything at all. You can imagine my dismay when I learned that there was only one magazine available for parents of twins - and not a very good magazine at that. There was a very large hole in the market, and now this niche has been filled.

Enter Multiples Magazine. In January, I received my first issue of Multiples... What a terrific source of information for parents of twins, triplets, and higher-order multiples. This magazine isn't a fluffy, "Yay, parents!" magazine. This magazine is chockful of different resources for parents, including medical advice, fitness tips, and much more. Plus, there are all sorts of contests and ways to get your multiples on the pages of Multiples Magazine. Your family can even be featured in the magazine in a section called All in the Family, or you can tell your own multiples story in the My Experience section.

Even families that do not have multiples can find some benefits with Multiples Magazine. There are sections that apply to every family, including Family Vacation (tips on where to vacation with your family), Library Card (book reviews), Baby Pictures (movie reviews), Date Night (places to go without the kids) and much more. There are even two journal-type sections where readers can follow a woman with a two-year-old son (From The Heart), and a man with twins on the way (Daddy's Diary). There is something that absolutely everyone can relate to.

With the increase of the use of fertility drugs and procedures such as IVF, there has been an increase in multiple births by an astounding percentage. It is very surprising that there aren't similar resources available to the public. Honestly, it's a real shame. As I mentioned in the beginning of this article, I am about to have twins. My husband and I have purchased an insane amount of books. I subscribe to virtually every baby magazine available to new and expecting parents. I frequent parenting websites on a daily basis. I am even a member of several Parents of Multiples internet groups, and I hope to join some "real life" ones soon.

Are you still getting Multiples Magazine? My friend wrote an article for them, believes it was published, and yet she has not received her issue. She has been unable to get any response from the magazine. Are they out of business? If you have the Summer 2008 issue, would you be willing to give it or sell it to my friend? Or scan a copy of her final article? Thanks Laura - jbarber8-at-cfl.rr.com
