Muncie Coffee Shops - Where Should You Go?

Concannon's has long been known for their pastries, but they recently opened up a café that features a lovely coffee bar. This is an excellent place to go get a fancy coffee. It's perfect for a date, special occasion, place to have a meaningful conversation, or even to work on your art while you have a coffee drink. I would definitely recommend this place, it's roomy and the coffee is great. This is a good location for people who are sick of Starbucks or coffee house culture, but still really love a great coffee drink. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 6 am to 9 pm and Sunday from 7 am to 8 pm. The address is, appropriately, 4801 W. Baker Lane. This place definitely wins the atmosphere award. (With the Blue Bottle coming in at a close second.)

The Blue Bottle hours of operation are Monday through Wednesday from 7 am to 7 pm. Thursday through Saturday from 7 am to 9 pm and Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm. The address is 206 S. Walnut Street in downtown Muncie. The quality is always great and this is definitely the hottest coffee served in town, which makes it ideal to grab on the way to work and sip on for the next couple of hours. The tea served here also seems to be of the highest quality. Everything at the Blue Bottle always tastes great and if you've never tried it you definitely should. They seem to strive for quality at the Blue Bottle, and that makes me more forgiving of the occasional miss taste-wise.

The MT Cup is located at 1606 West University Avenue. The area where the coffee shop is located in an area more commonly known as, "the village" that caters to local college students, but also to the general public. The MT Cup is open 6:30 am every day of the week, until midnight Sun-Thurs and until 3 am on Fridays and Saturdays. The MT Cup is not a bad place to go and sit down with a cup of coffee, if you don't mind a less than tidy location. I also recommend that you don't touch the bathroom here with a ten foot pole. It is never clean.

Out of all the coffee shops listed in this article, this one has the lowest quality of coffee available. It typically tastes watered down, and my husband and I have always had to wait a very long to get our order. This is a better place for younger students to come and hang out than it is for adult coffee lovers to come and enjoy a cup of quality beverage. The employees have been slow in all of our experiences over the years and the place seems to have been headed downhill over the past 3 years in particular. It is my lowest recommended place out of all the coffee shops listed in this article, which is sad because it was a really great place about five or six years ago.

Coffee Junkiez is open from 5:30 am to 9 pm on Monday through Saturday and from 8 am to 8 pm on Sunday. They are primarily a drive through coffee shop, and are well known for putting a chocolate covered coffee bean on top of every to-go cup of coffee that they serve. They have a very distinct flavor to their beverages. I find that occasionally, if you order a flavored drink, they may use a little bit too much syrup. But that's just my personal taste. Their drive-through goes more quickly than the Starbucks stores in Muncie, and they are definitely worth a try. Again, I'd much rather try a cup of coffee that I didn't like because there was too much flavor instead of having a watered down coffee. So by all means, give these coffee shops a try and make the decision for yourself. You never know what kind of an experience you will have, so don't take my word for it, go support Muncie businesses and make up your own mind.
