Muppet Vision 3D at Walt Disney World

Disney Attraction Review

Audrey Brown
Walt Disney World's Muppet Vision 3D attraction can be found at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida. There is also a Muppet Vision 3D attraction at Disney's California Adventure at Disneyland in Anaheim. This is actually a theatrical show, not a ride. So go prepared to enjoy the air-conditioning and sit for a while. A prime time to hit this show would be just after lunch in the heat of the day; it'll give you time to digest and a chance to get out of the heat.

The waiting process for this ride is far more pleasant than it is for other live shows at Disney World such as, "Honey I Shrunk the Audience" and, "Voyage of the Little Mermaid". What's the difference? Well the Muppet Vision Theater waiting area is huge. It has plenty of room for all those waiting for a show and not just barely enough like the aforementioned shows.

There are no low ceilings, no fluorescent lighting, and no bare walls. Instead, there's plenty for kids to look at, lots of Muppet-based props, colorful decorating, and even Muppets on video monitors performing for you while you wait. These small differences can change your entire waiting experience, and I was thrilled to see that they had gone to the trouble to include them. These are especially helpful if you have small kids in the toddler age range.

When it's finally time to proceed into the show area, you will be given a pair of 3D glasses that you will simply turn in on your way out after the show is over. From here on in I'll try to tell you what to expect and what's great about the show without ruining any of the surprises for you. Because half the fun of Muppet Vision 3D is the fact that it's packed with surprises of all kinds. So as an extra little tip, let me just tell you to avoid other online reviews before you go.

Also, beware the Disney spoiler, these people love to run up to you when they hear you're going to Disney World and tell you all about their favorite rides and their favorite parts of their favorite rides, and if you don't stop them, they'll ruin a lot of the experience for you. So beware.

So what's so great about Muppet Vision 3D? Everything! The show uses 3D very effectively, they've thought of a lot of fun tricks using the medium that will really impress the kids and also get you giggling. And hey, we're talking Muppets here. So the jokes are clever, the characters are beloved, and there's so much cuteness flying around, it's hard to even measure.

Also, don't just expect a 3D movie. There are actually some parts of the theater that will reveal some in-person real-life appearances of some of your favorite Muppets, as well as some jokes and gags that depend on some interactive humor. That's really all I can say without spoiling it for you, but if you were planning on skipping it because you're more of a ride person, please don't. Go ahead and see Muppet Vision 3D, especially if you're a Jim Henson fan. They've managed to make it feel like a really personal experience and they've gone the extra mile to make it much more special than just a 3D film. It's a must-see!
