Murphy's Irish Pub on the Virginia Beach Oceanfront

Emma
Murphy's Irish Pub is a unique place located on 30th Street and Pacific Avenue in Virginia Beach. If you're looking for something other than seafood in this oceanfront area than Murphy's is a great place to stop by.

The decor on the inside of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. There are shiny hard wood floors through out the restaurant. The bar area has a breathtaking painted mirror in the background with local police badges circling the outside edges. There is a large wood burning fireplace in the center of the restaurant, perfect for the locals venturing out during the winter. There is also a second bar set off to the right of the restaurant that also has darts for those wanting to test their skills.

The wait staff is always friendly and open to give suggestions if you need a little help deciding what to order off of the menu. They have a very diverse menu with everything from chicken fingers to corned beef and cabbage. Their fish and chips are the best you'll find on this side of the ocean. They also have a very filling Irish stew that I recommend trying. If you've got some room for a beer they have a great Murphy ale on tap that goes well with any of their meals. They also carry Woodpecker cider on draft that will remind anybody that's been to the UK of the ones they have there.

On Tuesday nights Murphy's hosts a brainstormer pub quiz where patrons compete against each other in trivia. Anyone looking for a little excitement early in the week should load up some friends and challenge them to a night of trivia. There is also a stage set up off of the bar area where local musicians play on the weekends. There's nothing quite like eating a cup of Irish stew, sipping a cider and listening to traditional Irish songs on a Saturday afternoon.

By far their busiest day of the year is St. Patrick's Day. People line up around the building and wait for at least an hour to get into the building. Unless you've got the team and enjoy massively crowded places I suggest going on any other day of the year. All in all, Murphy's Irish Pub is a laid back restaurant with a great atmosphere. I recommend any tourists or locals to stop by and check it out. There's something on the menu for anyone and the prices are quite a bargain.

It seems to be a nice place to hang out with friends & drink.Great decor,I collect police patches too.The corned beef & cabbage was awful & could never be considered "Irish food".Ive been cooking & eating corned beef & cabbage my whole life. That didnt seem to even come from a true brisket. Here is what it was ,take some water boil potatoes, take some & boil some carrots, boil your meat do not add any seasoning not even salt, had not flavor & I mean NO FLAVOR! When I cook it I cook cabbage, potatoes,& carrots with the brisket it has to have seasoning! The brisket is so tender & falls apart, its almost stringy its so tender.I was so so so upset I wanted it without having to cook it all day.ill never eat there again.I will however go back for the atmosphere & the staff was really friend & helpful.Like I said seems like a great place to drink & meet friends, just leave the cooking to us real irish people LOL
