I remember Paul Corder as a hardworking student, managing academics, a full music load, and a passionate dedication to Murray State University's many musical productions. Gifted with a strong voice that could just as easily play Harold Hill in "The Music Man" as burst out an emotional rendition of contemporary atonal music, Corder took his both responsibilities and talents seriously during his years at MSU.

Paul Corder cannot afford his fight against cancer.

Murray State University music professor Dr. Jack Dressler took the initiative to start the fund for Paul Corder, who cannot afford his rising medical costs. Corder, recently married, is able to work part-time despite his illness. His working status disqualifies him from financial assistance, but without full-time pay, Corder has no medical insurance.

The School of Music formally released the following letter regarding the newly established Paul Corder Fund:

"Paul Corder, a recent Murray State University graduate in Music Business, is battling cancer. Because he is able to work he does not qualify for some sources of financial assistance. As he is without full-time employment with benefits the cost of his health care struggle is rising quickly. Paul's vocal and acting skills were featured in the role of Professor Harold Hill in the 2010 MSU Campus Lights production of The Music Man. He recently finished a media coordinator internship with Yellow Creek Baptist Church in Owensboro, Kentucky.

Paul hails from Falls of Rough, Kentucky where he attended Macedonia Baptist, is a 2001 graduate of Breckinridge County High School, is a former voice student of MSU professor, Dr. Randall Black, and is married to Dianne Rousseau, a 2010 Murray State Theatre Department graduate.

A fund has been set up by the MSU Music Department toward his medical expenses. Friends of Paul and Dianne may send donations to BB&T Bank at the following address:

The Murray State School of Music is formally pleading with the Western Kentucky community to reach out and help this amazing young man. Information has been sent to local newspapers like the Murray Ledger & Times, public radio station WKMS, and other regional media outlets. The MSU community is hoping that a miracle will help Paul Corder.

Further information regarding the Murray State University Paul Corder Cancer Fund can be found by calling the Murray State University School of Music at 270-809-4288.
