Although the festival takes place outdoors, it is a rain or shine event. For the event, consider bringing a hat, sunglasses, sunblock, water and, if there is rain in the forecast, an umbrella. Considering the large crowds that attend the Siren Music Festival, if you are bringing a bag make it as small as possible to avoid people constantly bumping into it. Wearing comfortable clothes is an absolute must. In addition, considering the amount of people that will be around you, your feet may get stepped on quite a bit so sneakers may be your best bet as opposed to wearing sandals.
Some of the bands for this year include "The Pains of Being Pure at Heart", "Screaming Females" and "The Night Marchers". If you haven't heard some of the bands, you can find out more about them and listen to some of their music on YouTube, a personal website or MySpace. There is typically an amazing amount of talent, so chances are you will be quite impressed by what you hear. Some of the performers at past Siren Music Festival's include the "Yeah Yeah Yeahs" in 2002, "Modest Mouse" in 2003, "Death Cab for Cutie" in 2004, "Scissor Sisters" in 2006 and "Cursive" in 2007.
In 2009, the Siren Music Festival called to around 100,000 music lovers. This year, celebrate their tenth anniversary surrounded by people who love music just as much as you do. To help make the experience easier, consider printing out the map located on siren.villagevoice.com which shows exactly where the bands are playing, where to get merchandise and where to grab some food.
For more information, you can follow the festival on Twitter at twitter.com/SirenFestival. You can also become a fan on Facebook and friend them on MySpace.
