Writing Under Headphones
While reaching for the next verse, I am struck by the music,
Emotion wells to the front of thought, cancelling any creation.

Why should a tear develop where no sadness dwells?
Perhaps exhaustion looms closer to the surface than before,
Perhaps concentration needs to be tabled for a while longer.
And then a mind-set of contentment permeates my awareness,
Happiness and fulfillment can, indeed, beget a tear.
