Music at the Sundance Film Festival

The Sundance Film Festival is known for, well, films. More specifically, the festival is known for independent films, but when I arrived in Park City, Utah to attend this spectacular event, there was much more than just films. The festival included tons of music. And when I heard that there would be music I most certainly did not intend on spending any time listening to random music over watch a film at the Sundance Film Festival, but I was wrong. The music was fantastic! Artists such as the Gold Streets, MeridianWest, and Ha Ha Tonka performed in Park City, Utah and wow, they were amazing. So while the festival itself was incredible, I'm choosing to write about an element of the festival that's not usually covered- the music.

Gold Streets
This rock/indie band from Brooklyn, New York was a great band for the Sundance Film Festival. Their song, Funny Cry Happy is fantastic and according to their MySpace page, their influences consist of Velvet Underground, Radiohead, The Pixies, and The Cure. Their music is awesome and their lyrics are rad- what else needs to be said? Visit their MySpace page to listen to some of their songs and see their coolness for yourself.

MeridianWest
This remarkable band is straight from the wonderful city of Austin, Texas. For those of you who haven't had the chance to visit, Austin is a perpetual breeding ground for art in all of its forms so it's no wonder that such a cool band would be from there. One of my favorite songs by them is Love is on Fire so check them out. They too have a MySpace page so fans can check out their music for free.

Ha Ha Tonka
Ha Ha Tonka is, in my opinion, the epitome of indie music. Their song Falling In is posted on their MySpace site and it's mellow tone and beautiful lyrics have made me love this band even more.

My night at the outdoor concert in conjunction with the Sundance Film Festival was worth every penny of my ticket. The concerts that were featured as part of The Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah were outdoor and totally free! Can it get much better? Great music at no cost to me... except for the hella expensive ticket I purchased to attend the event in the first place. Nonetheless, it was a great opportunity and art lovers everywhere should attend at some point in their lives. The congregation of so many artistic individuals is truly a sight to behold.
