It is never too early to introduce your child to the world of music. As long as the music is not too overstimulating or loud, playing music for your child of any age is a great thing. As a toddler, your child has likely taken an interest in playing instruments themselves, quickly learning a couple wooden spoons and some pots and pans make the perfect drum set. Early crafts are a great way to include music. Here is one example of a easy toddler craft that you and your toddler or preschooler can do with some glue, construction paper and a cereal box. The craft is a cereal box piano.

Again the only supplies that you need for this craft is a cereal box, some construction paper, probably black and white, glue and the only tool that you will need is a simple pair of scissors. The first part of the craft is something that you will be doing and it is something that you can do when your toddler is around or something that you do before your toddler is ready to start the craft. This step is to simply cut strips of paper to cover the sides, top and bottom of the cereal box, the strips for your black and white keys and a piece to cover half of the front of the cereal box. Covering the back of the cereal box is optional since it won't be seen as it is the bottom of the craft piano. So that the craft piano resembles a real piano cut the white keys so they are slightly wider and longer than the black keys. You are not limited to using only black and white paper, if your child would rather have a colorful piano you can use any color of paper you want.

Once everything is cut you can help your toddler or young child glue the paper to the cereal box. First glue the strips for the four sides of the piano, which are going to be the top and bottom of the cereal box and its two sides. Then glue on your white keys, or the larger keys of different colors if you decided to use different colors for the craft, so that one edge is touching the edge of the box. Once those are on the piano craft you can glue on the smaller keys, likely the black ones, so that one of the edges is touching the border of the white keys slightly above the edge of the box. Once all of the keys are glued to the toddler piano craft you add the front piece that will fit over the border of the keys.

Now the fun part, your toddler can have hours and hours of fun with this very easy and fun craft. As an added bonus this craft produces a silent piano. This will aid to your child using their imagination and make the piano more enjoyable when it is time to play with a quiet toy. Plus you never have to worry about this music craft being so loud that it is unhealthy for your child's ears. You can find step by step instructions of this very craft with pictures at EasyToddlerCrafts.com as well as other music toddler crafts and many other fun and easy toddler crafts.
