Music Video for "Who Owns My Heart" by Miley Cyrus Isn't so Disney
Miley Hilt... I Mean, Loha... I'm Sorry - Cyrus
At first when I read about the music video and the uproar it was causing I thought people and critics were being too sensitive. It can't be that bad, right? Apparently girls these days are not acting their age - Miley is seen in the video dancing up against other people (males and females), exposing her legs more provocatively than a flapper from the 1920's, and even at 7 seconds in is laying on a bed in a fashion in which you can see down her cleavage.
By 28 seconds in Miley gets off of a bed in black underwear in what you'd be expecting to be an amateur adult porn scene. However, believe it or not, it's not. Directly after that she's seen sitting on the edge of a bath tub in nothing but a tank top and underwear. As the video progresses further she's in a club (isn't this how downward slopes in young girl's careers start?) dancing with an array of different people while singing.
Over the course of the video she goes from being in a bathroom half naked, on a bed (half naked also), into a club dancing on people, and into the back of a car where I swear she looks as if she's wearing no pants - her legs completely exposed and caressing her legs sensually (she's probably wearing booty shorts, but still).
Slightly after the two minutes mark of the video she's seen dancing on top of a table sensually. The way she is dancing I am actually surprised there's no stripper pole like at the Teen Choice Awards at age 16.
A previous flag that should have been set off about this behavior is when Miley Cyrus was seen grinding against a 44-year-old man in which her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, responded,"It's what people her age do".
The video can be seen on Youtube here.
The real problem with all of this, in my eyes, is the fact that she is a star geared towards kids. By this time she's an icon to them, so they are going to keep following her footsteps wherever they may lead. At the mere age of 17 she shouldn't be up in the ranks of controversy with Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton. Children, seeing this, will in fact emulate it (monkey see - monkey do theory).
