Musical Legends Who Deserve a "Glee" Theme Episode

"Glee" theme episodes are quickly becoming a fan favorite, but surely Britney Spears and Madonna aren't the only musical legends who deserve a "Glee" theme episode all to themselves? Countless musicians have had hit tracks featured on this hit TV show from Fox, and several musicals have been paid homage by the stellar cast and crew.

"Glee" returns to Fox with new episodes following Super Bowl XLV on February 6th, 2011. Fans are already abuzz in anticipation, as the official clip on Fox shows a teaser glance at the "Glee" stars performing Michael Jackson's legendary "Thriller" song and chorography. Should Michael Jackson be counted among the famous musical legends that deserve an entire "Glee" theme episode?

Here are 5 musical icons the writers should consider featuring in an individual "Glee" theme episode. Of course, this list certainly isn't all-inclusive; the amount of musical legends the writers have to choose from is endless.

"Glee" Theme Episode: Michael Jackson - Who can dispute the influence the "King of Pop" had on the music industry? Although "Thriller" is a great start, an entire "Glee" theme episode for Michael Jackson could have the cast of characters in "Smooth Criminal" 1920s attire, illustrating cultural differences with "Black or White" and thwarting a battle between the geeks and the jocks with "Beat It." With the anticipation to see "Thriller" performed on "Glee," a whole theme episode to Michael Jackson would surely be a hit.

"Glee" Theme Episode: Frank Sinatra - Imagine the cast of "Glee" portraying the old Hollywood charm and sense style, grace and poise. Lea Michele, Dianna Agron, Amber Riley and the other ladies would be stunning in the attire of Frank Sinatra's era, and there is no doubt Chris Colfer, Cory Monteith and Matthew Morrison could handle the famous songs from this musical icon. Imagine Morrison singing "I Won't Dance" to Jayma Mays, with the chemistry between William and Emma, or Heather Morris and Kevin McHale doing a duet to "The Way You Look Tonight."

"Glee" Theme Episode: Ozzy Osbourne - The writers could focus on Ozzy Osbourne's solo career, or his vocal contribution to Black Sabbath. Either way, a "Glee" theme episode about the "Grandfather of Heavy Metal" would be a change of pace from the 80s theme of Season 1, or the Top 40 theme of Season 2, and allow both the male and female performers to belt-out some truly heavy metal tracks. Puck (Mark Salling) would be especially perfect to feature with Ozzy's body of work, and him singing "Crazy Train" as an intro to the episode would certainly be memorable-and a great way to bring the character back full-time.

"Glee" Theme Episode: Elvis Presley - What list of musical legends to be featured in a "Glee" theme episode could be complete without "The King" himself? With so many amazing songs to choose from, the cast and crew of "Glee" could easily fill an entire episode paying homage to Elvis Presley. "Jailhouse Rock" offers great set options, and "All Shook Up" could have the entire "Glee" cast up and moving.

"Glee" Theme Episode: Pink Floyd - The musical legend featured on a "Glee" theme episode doesn't need to be a solo artist. Pink Floyd, the English band who managed worldwide success after their phenomenal, original singles in the 60s haunted millions of listeners with soulful ballads, meaningful lyrics and psychedelic qualities. Any tracks from "The Wall" would be memorable, but the writers certainly would have plenty to choose from. "Wish You Were Here" could be a touching solo from Kurt, at his new school, or by the cast members missing him back home.
