The ugliness of the earth is blanketed with beauty.
Snow purifies the ground.
Brokeness and trash litters the earth,
Covered by nature's pity.
Snow masks poverty,
Those living under bridges,
Boxes as temporary houses,
Hungry bellies roil.
Those of us who are warm,
Fed and cloathed should not forget,
What snow and beauty hides.
Remember soup kitchens,
Hats and mittens,
For those less fortunate than we are.
Sometimes I need to be in denial. There is too much ugliness and poverty in the world. We do as much as we can to help others and for that I am grateful. There is so much to do to improve our little corner of the world. I am grateful though that we have our needs met. We must all do our best to help others but mustn't get overcome with despair. We can only do so much. We can't let the evil one take away our hope and faith that what we do is not important. If we do we would give up and not try to help anyone because we become overwhelmed by the great needs of others.

I really like this, Shana!!
Well contrasted. And we can all do what we can do. If we would all do that thing of the things that could be done.
there is always something good in just about anything
Even the trash pile in my back yard is beautiful when it's covered in snow! Thanks for the reminder to count our blessings and remember others less fortunate.
Beautiful sentiments and great advice. Sometimes the worlds ugliness or beauty is indeed a matter of attitude and perspective.
This is fantastic. I love the the two lines that say, "Brokeness and trash litters the earth, Covered by nature's pity." I'm always amazed by your talent for words. Most of all I love how caring you are. Everytime I go to my mailbox halfway down the street, I appreciate coming back into my warm house - even though it isn't truly mine. I'm happy to have a place to live.
This is a great piece! I think we all have to be in denial sometimes because if we aren't then we will fall a part.
Shana, it is sad that so many need help, especially during the cold winter. Thanks for the reminder!
very heartfelt and makes one think.
