Muskogee Oklahoma Mall Shooting; One Dead, Serveral Injured

In what has become only the latest shooting inside a crowded US shopping mall, police in Muskogee Oklahoma are confirming that seventeen year old Jarrod Reed has been killed and five or six others injured from gun fire that erupted shortly after 4:00 PM inside the Arrowhead Mall. Four of those injured were taken to the Muskogee Regional Medical Center, though no information on their condition has been released. The shooting is said to be gang related, and police are looking for three suspects, Daniel Jermanine Anderson (20), Michael Mayberry (16), and Anton Nelson (17).

The Arrowhead Mall which sits between Denison Street and Martin Luther King Blvd in downtown Muskogee had been busy with visitors in town to attend the city's annual Azalea Festival. The shooting is only the latest of a growing list of such incidents which have taken place across the country in recent years.

In February of 2007, six people (including the shooter) were killed and four others injured when 18 year old Sulejman Talović open fired inside the Trolley Square Mall in Salt Lake City Utah. In April of 2007, three people were killed and two injured when a gunman open fired at the Ward Parkway in Kansas City Missouri. Later on in December of that same year, nine people were killed (including the shooter) and four others injured in a bloody killing spree at the Westroads Mall in Nebraska. The shooter, Robert Hawkins, used an AK-47 rifle to fire off more than 30 rounds before taking his own life.

In February 2005 Robert Bonelli Jr. used a Hesse-47 assault rifle in a shooting rampage at the Hudson Valley Mall in Kingston New York. Though the shooting resulted in two injuries, no one was killed by Bonelli. In November of the same year, Dominick Maldonado used a semi automatic rifle in an assault at the Tacoma Mall in Washington. Maldonado ended up injuring six, though no one was killed.
