As someone who recently received a Kindle Fire, there are a few things that I can highly recommend purchasing. Whether you just want to read or would also like to watch movies and listen to music, these accessories are a must-have. Best of all, you can find them rather inexpensively.
Portfolio Case
Once I saw a portfolio case, I knew I had to have one. The portfolio case folds so that you can prop the Kindle Fire up to watch movies, view documents or read your book. The cases are available in a wide array of colors and patterns. Best of all, you can find them for as little as $15 when shopping through auction sites. In fact, I purchased my case through eBay and also received a stylus, USB cable and car charger for less than $15.
Headphones
The Kindle Fire is more than an ereader. For example, you can load your music collection onto Amazon and then access it through the Music tab. You can also watch movies through Amazon's Instant Video Store. There are even apps for Netflix and Hulu on the Fire. If you plan to watch movies or listen to music in public places, you should consider a good set of headphones, which will cost at least $20.
Car Charger
If you use your device while on the go, I highly recommend a car charger. The Kindle Fire battery will last for 8 hours of continuous reading or 7.5 for video playback, if the wireless is turned off. If you're taking long trips, or want to charge your device on the way to work, a car charger can come in handy. Best of all, it costs less than $10.
USB Cable
Unfortunately, the Kindle Fire doesn't come with a USB cable like other models do. Thankfully, you can purchase USB cables for the device online. The cables cost around $10, but make it extremely easy to transfer files onto your device.
Prime Membership
Last, but not least, I highly recommend getting a Prime Membership. The membership will allow you to borrow books from Amazon's Lending Library for free and also allows unlimited streaming of movies and TV shows from Amazon's Instant Video Store. A Prime Membership costs $79 per year and includes free two-day shipping on all qualifying purchases from Amazon.
The Kindle Fire is definitely the best e-reader on the market. However, it can be made better with a few inexpensive purchases.
