1. Dune Road: A Novel
Due out June 16th, 2009, this book is about a single mother who works for a very famous but isolated novelist. After years of working for her boss, she realizes a very peculiar secret that could possibly destroy her boss's career and be the gossip of the town. Set in a beach community in Connecticut, this book will surely be a summer hit.
2. South of Broad
Due out August 11th, 2009, this book is about the life of a young man after his brother commits suicide. He finds meaning to life again with a group of teenagers at his high schools. Their friendships leads to many adventures that test out the true boundaries of friendship and belonging. Set from the 1960s this book travels through thick and thin until the AIDS era.
3. Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen
Due out June 16th, 2009, this book is about two teenagers, strangers to be exact, bonding through the course of a summer. One is carefree and easy going while the other one is lonely, moody, and can't sleep at night. Both of them find each other and learn about each other through the course of the summer. Very Lost in Translation-esque.
4. Hothouse Flower by Margot Berwin
Due out June 16th, 2009, this book is about love, lust, and adventure all set around the mystery of exotic plants. A women befriends a florist and they love affair grows. After she finds a plant at her local Laundromat, the owner of the Laundromat gives a piece of the plant to her and tells her that if the plant roots and grows, he will give her other plants to keep. As soon as this plant begins to root, the florist took all the plants and disappeared. She, along with the owner of the Laundromat go on an adventure to the Yucatan peninsula to find more exotic plants and along the way there are not shortages of love affairs and mystery.
5. Six Suspects by Vikas Swarup
Due out July 7th, 2009, this book is the product of the writer of Slumdog Millionaire. This book is about a rich and famous man who murdered a bartender after the bartender refused to serve him a drink. Years later at his own party, he is murdered. Six guests are sequestered and the ultimate question is: who is the criminal? Each guest is someone special: a corrupt bureaucrat, an American, a tribesman, a Bollywood celebrity, a phone thief, and an audacious politician.
A modern day version of whodunit? You have to read to find out.
