The Niagara Falls region of New York offers up some of the most awe-inspiring natural wonders that a tourist can come by in the New York area. Visiting the falls over the summer can be one of the most memorable experience of your life, so if you plan on checking out the falls make sure to hit up some of these locations.

The Journey Behind the Falls is a self-guided tour through a series of tunnel carved into the rock that is situated behind the falls. The attraction is situated on the Canadian side of the falls and tickets cost are $12 for people over 13 and $7.20 for children 6-12. Rain gear is provided. It does get rather loud in there so if you have a child who is bothered by loud sounds forgoing this stop or using ear plugs might be a good option.

The Maid of the Mist is probably one of the best known attractions. Enjoy a half-hour thrill ride close to the falls. The boat launches from the entrance of the observation deck and the ride will cost 12.50 for adults and 7.50 for children from 6-12. Rain gear is provided. The season opens on May 2nd and runs well into the fall.

If you want to venture away from the falls for a short while. Clifton Hill is an amusement strip that offers up a dinosaur-themed mini golf course and A Guinness World Records Museum. Clifton Hill is located on the premises of the Canadian side of the falls. Toy Town Museum is another great stop sans the falls+. It is located in East Aurora, NY an allows a walk through of toy history. Donations of $1 per person for unguided tours are accepted. The museum is opened daily but closes on holidays and has limited hours the day before many holidays. Check ahead with the museum for your specific date.
