Ephesus, which was one of the most impressive cities in the olden western times, is a must see. Made entirely of marble is Temple of Diana (Artemis in Greek) which can be found on the Aegean Coast, was one of the seven wonders of its era. Other attractions in the city include Barhour Gymnasium and the marble Arcadian Way. Christians like to see the hillside near Ephesus since the Virgin Mary lived out her final years there.
Aspendos is another historical city where you can find a well conserved Roman theater. Bergama houses numerous Hellenistic monuments, the grand Acropolis, and the Hellenistic theater from Ancient Pergamon times. A replica of the renowned Pergamon altar can be seen at present since the original at the Berlin Museum.
Another must see wonder is a city carved out of a rock hill, the underground city of Kaymali in the Cappadocia region. This city housed many other cultures and civilizations and was built by the Hittites in 2000 B.C. Homes above the city are connected to the underground complex of tunnels leading to many levels of storage rooms, wineries, ventilation shafts, millstones, and spacious conference rooms.
The Kusadasi region of Turkey is also an interesting place to visit. Pamukkale, or the cotton castle, is a famous spa at Hierapolis.
