Must See Shipper Clips on YouTube

Polly Merase
Everyone has their favorite on-screen character duo, Pam & Jim, Benson & Stabler, Harry & Hermione. All co-star together in television or film, and all are beloved by their fans. Although these star-crossed co-stars may never be the cosmic couples their loyal fans long for, relationshippers everywhere are blessed with the gift of YouTube video montages.

Relationshippers, or shippers for short, is a term that has been coined to describe TV and film fans that want to see their favorite on-screen characters couple-up. Typically such a relationship would be detrimental to the show's plot and viewers rarely get the opportunity to revel in the bliss of their favorite characters canoodling.

Such is the case with Pam and Jim from NBC's hit comedy, The Office. Much of the plot on The Office is dedicated to the potential romantic relationship between these two officemates. The show features Pam and Jim engaging in various flirtatious activities, however their friendship has yet to officially move past that of platonic.

While most viewers realize the show would lose much of its premise, humor, and appeal if Pam and Jim were to become 'Jam', many fans have created video montages set to romantic (or sappy) music to fulfill their need to see their happy couple together.

Jim & Pam -- Have You Ever

The following shipper clips commemorate some of the great TV and film love stories that may never be, if not for the creative fans that took the time to put these montages together.

Benson and Stabler -- Law & Order: SVU

Detectives Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler are partners on NBC's drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. The two co-stars have shared the screen for eight seasons and have an undeniable sexual chemistry. During the past three seasons the producers of SVU have toyed with the emotions of fans and shippers a like, by having Stabler deal with a divorce and anger management issues. It had appeared as if the troubled detective would find solace in his partner, but when he decided to save his partner's life instead of a victim's, it became evident a romantic relationship may cause a conflict of interest.

Scofield and Dr. Tancredi -- Prison Break

Everyone knows the classic story: boy uses girl, boy falls for girl, girl falls for boy, girls uncovers plot, girl still helps boy, boy leaves girl. The twist? Boy is a convicted felon who robbed a bank at gunpoint to get into prison so he can help his brother on death row escape before he is executed for a crime he did not commit. The girl is the ex-drug junkie prison doctor who happens to be the daughter of the governor. Sound complicated? It is, but it makes for a wonderful love story.

Michael & Sara -- Trip

Mulder and Scully -- The X-Files

For nearly a decade, the detectives of Fox's cult-classic The X-Files investigated cases of the paranormal. Not only did the creepy topics Mulder and Scully investigated gain a crazed following, but so to, did their on-screen relationship. For years, fans were left on edge, trying to determine whether or not Mulder and Scully were, or were not a couple. Many pop culture archivists point to The X-Files and Mulder and Scully as the series and relationship that led to the coining of the term relationshipper.

Mulder & Scully -- Kiss Me

Harry and Hermione -- The Harry Potter Series

Most people have read the wildly successful Harry Potter series of novels by J.K. Rowlings and know that childhood pals Harry and Hermione are no more than good friends. However, it is difficult to imagine that nary a Potter fan has not at some point wanted Harry and Hermione to become high school sweethearts. When this duo hit the silver screen the actors that played Harry and Hermione looked to be the perfect pair. While Rowlings may never provide readers with When Harry Met Hermione, fellow fans can.

Great article, you know I don't watch the Office on a regular basis by any means, but every time I have it has been fun to see.
