When the article Get Pretty for Pennies was delivered to my mailbox; I jumped, fervently opened the laptop, eager to share with my readers and friends the treasure I had unearthed. After all, there are sure to be more women like me!
The products weren't a part of any ad gimmick, but professional recommendation from hot shot, professional makeup artists. They listed 15 of their favorite must have beauty products for less; here are five of my preferred choices.
Must-have beauty products for less: Maybelline Lineworks Liquid Eyeliner
This product has been one of my favorites since quite some time now. The best part is that it's waterproof and has an easy felt tip. You can't go wrong with this eyeliner. Available in black and brown, the color is bright, bold and dramatic.
Rachel Goodwin, the Chanel celebrity makeup artist gives it an A+. "It's user friendly, plain and simple. The pointed-tip brush offers control and makes it easy to apply (even for a novice). It's almost impossible to mess up." Get it at any drugstore for $7.
Must-have beauty products for less: Max Factor Vivid Impact Lip color
One of Rachel Goodwin's recommendations again, Max Factor Vivid Lip color is just gorgeous. It boasts of a designer palette of matte, bright and awesome shades. Rachel says, "I use the bright fuchsia, deep purples, and gold on celebrities for red-carpet events." Available for $8 at drugstore.com
Must-have beauty products for less: L'Oreal Paris True Match Blush
True Matchâ„¢ Blush flawlessly complements your skin's tone and texture. It matches your skin leaving you with the most natural flush of color imaginable. Kristopher Buckle, celebrity makeup artist working with Jennifer Lopez and Demi Moore (to name a few), commends the beauty product for its au naturale colors and textures. Sold for $11 at drugstore.com
Must-have beauty products for less: CoverGirl Natural Lash Clear Mascara
An interesting product that I recently stumbled on! With this clear gel you could tame eyebrows and create natural-looking, feather-light lashes. The professional recommends it by saying, "This is a multipurpose product that you can use to make your lashes shinier or to groom your brows. If you put it on your eyebrows before you tweeze, it will separate the hairs and make it easier to pluck one hair at a time."
Must-have beauty products for less: Ecotools Brush Set
The ecoTool is for the environmentally inspired, made from recycled, natural products and comes in reusable pouch. The handles are made of bamboo and the animal-free taklon bristles are made from soft and pliable synthetic hair. Available at target.com for $10
Let's get real.
Makeup that would top my list would be ones that follows the three A's of convenience: Affordable, Accessible and (makes me feel) Attractive.
That might not be a paragon... but then you get the point. Right?
