Must-See Movies Coming Out May 2008

Daniel Lee
It is that time again. It is summer so that means two things. It means it is hot outside and the movies are big on the inside. This is the first of eight articles/summaries that are coming your way. This part will cover half the month of May. Come back and check out the other half followed by two parts for June, July and August as we get closer to them. I also will post in depth articles about the big movies coming out in May as well. Well let's not waste any more time and get to it.

Iron Man - May 2nd - Single Sentence Plot: Iron Man is a super hero who has a lot of money and wants to save the day in a cool red suit. This is the biggest movie since I Am Legend came out in December, which was five long months ago. This will be the movie to see. It features an all star cast and is the newest addition to the superhero movie franchise. The trailers for this movie make it look amazing and there is no doubt in my mind that it won't be funny. The movie is promising action and it will no doubt provide. There has been some news that the amount of action in the movie is less than what they make it seem to be. I don't know if I can believe this because it had a production budget of $187 million dollars. But then again that could all go to some bad CGI. This movie will be big- well at least for the first weekend. Everyone will want to see it so if it is bad there will be no time to get the word out. Come back in a few days to read my detailed report on Iron Man.

Made of Honor - May 2nd - Single Sentence Plot: This guy sleeps with a lot of women and finds love with his best friend who is getting married to another man and the guy must be her maid-of-honor. This is simple: Iron Man is for the boys, and Made of Honor is for the girls. This is the first chic flick of the summer, and it stars the man that all women seem to love- Patrick Dempsey. Columbia Pictures is releasing this at just the right time because if this movie is any good, word of mouth will spread and this movie stands to make some money. It looks funny, but then again it looks like every other chic flick out there. This will hold all the women up till the end of May when the best thing for women comes out. Shall we say a little Sex in the City? Come back in a few days to read my detailed report on Made of Honor.

Speed Racer - May 9th - Single Sentence Plot: A boy drives cars fast and there is racing and maybe a story behind the racing as the dialogue is corny so kids will laugh. This is the newest movie from the directors of The Matrix. The Wachowski brothers who directed this movie have not directed a single movie since The Matrix and this is the complete opposite of The Matrix. The Matrix was rated R but Speed Racer is rated PG. This is the first family film movie of the summer and it should hold out well in the coming weeks after its release as every little boy who loves cars will want to see it. This movie also will be shown in IMAX. This will be the first good movie to play in IMAX since I Am Legend in December. Come back in a week to read my detailed report on Speed Racer.

What Happens in Vegas - May 9th - Single Sentence Plot: Two people get drunk in Vegas and end up getting married, winning money, wanting to keep the money, living together and in the end will end up happy. Maybe! The movie is just another movie to release to bank on the summer days. This movie looks to be funny since it is staring two high profile actors - Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz, but it seems to be misplaced with its release date. It will do ok at the box office, but it will have to get good reviews to make it anywhere with the coming weeks in May being heavier than the first. Come back in a week to read my detailed report on What Happens in Vegas.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian - May 16th - Single Sentence Plot: The four children return and they help to restore the throne to the rightful leader, Prince Caspian. This is the next movie in the Chronicles of Narnia series and it seems to be one of the movies that will hold up the best all summer. If this movie is better than the last which it looks like it will be than there is no doubt that it will be a success. The third movie in the series starts filming in October so this better is a hit. Come back in two weeks for my detailed report on The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.

The first part of May will be big and the second will be just as big. Come back in a week to read on the second part of May.

A little something extra- my predictions of which movie will do the best at the box office. (Just based on these Movies).

1. Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
2. Speed Racer
3. Iron Man
4. Made of Honor
5. What Happened in Vegas
