Christmas movies rock! I love Christmas movies and have been known to watch them all year long. Here, I have listed a few of my favorite Christmas movies, just in case you were dying to know what they were.
1. "A Christmas Story." "A Christmas Story" is a Christmas movie for the whole family. Our family watches this one every year. Normally it's on television a lot over the season. Set in the 1940's it is Ralphie Parker's one Christmas wish to have a Red Rider BB gun. Throughout the movie Ralphie tries to hint to his mother, his teacher, and even Santa about the BB gun, only to hear "You'll shoot your eye out." Ralphie also spends most of the movie running from the neighborhood bully.2. "A Christmas Carol." The movie "A Christmas Carol" has so many different versions available and any of them would be a good Christmas movie to watch over the holidays. The storyline for all is Ebenezer Scrooge, a grumpy old man with no Christmas spirit, is visited by three ghosts. The ghosts of Christmas past, present and future appear to him, and afterward he awakens a changed man...one who finally found the spirit of Christmas.
3. "It's A Wonderful Life." "It's a Wonderful Life" is a one of my favorite classic Christmas movies. In this movie George Bailey has led a selfless life. But then, he finds himself in a financial crisis when he comes up several thousand dollars short at the bank he manages. Depressed and considering himself a failure says that he wished he had never been born. Then, an angel named Clarence is sent down to help him truly see what the town would have been like he really had never been born.
4. "Elf." "Elf" Stars Will Ferrell as Buddy the elf. Buddy is a regular sized man who as a baby crawled into Santa's sack at the orphanage. The Elves raised him; therefore he thinks he is an elf. When he finds out he is a grown human man, he takes off to New York City to find his real dad. Imagine a man who thinks he's an elf trying to make it in New York City! This movie is hilarious; I dare you to watch it without laughing.
5. "Home Alone." "Home Alone" starring Macaulay Culkin is the story of a boy named Kevin, who is accidentally left behind while his large family is getting ready to leave for the airport. Kevin realizes he is left home alone and finds himself having to protect his home from two nasty Christmas thieves. Kids and adults both enjoy this Christmas movie, which is why it is one of my favorites.
6. "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation." "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" is one of best comedy Christmas movies ever! I love Chevy Chase and the National Lampoon movies. This time, The Griswold's are preparing for another Christmas with the family. As they prepare they are faced with tons of mishaps and accidents that leave your stomach hurting because you are laughing so hard. 7. "The Santa Clause." "The Santa Clause" stars Tim Allen as Scott Calvin, a man with absolutely no Christmas spirit. Scott falls off the roof Christmas Eve when he is frightened by Santa, who also falls off the roof. He then finds a note on the unconscious Santa that says he should put the coat on, so he does and then, he becomes Santa! The Santa Clause 2 and 3 are also excellent movies.
8. "Christmas with the Kranks." "Christmas with the Kranks" Stars Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis. The Kranks decide to skip Christmas because their only daughter has decided not to come home for the holiday. The Kranks endure the gossip and harassment of the neighborhood because they refuse to decorate or participate in the neighborhood Christmas traditions. But then, their daughter says she is coming home after all and the neighborhood changes face and helps them race to prepare the house for Christmas. 9. "Miracle on 34th Street." This is another of the classic Christmas movies that you just can't go a Christmas without watching. "Miracle on 34th Street" is about a man who is an actor Santa Claus, but in reality he actually thinks that he is Santa. People think he is insane and a lawyer takes on his case, claiming that this man truly is the real Santa Claus.
10. "The Family Stone." "The Family Stone" is one of my favorite heart warming Christmas movies. "The Family Stone" has a lot of big stars like Diane Keaton and Luke Wilson. This movie is about the Stone family coming together for Christmas and one of the sons wants to bring his fiancé. She discovers that no one in the family really likes her and feels very out of place. There is a lot of bickering and pranks, until the family finds out it may be their last together.
