This is officially my 100th submission to Associated Content. I have 96 articles and 4 slideshows. I am very proud of this milestone. I started AC on February 20 earlier this year and never thought I would hit 100. Carol Brown introduced this to me from a friend of hers and it just stuck. My first article was a cute story of Rex and his hamster troubles. (This is a true story!) I have gone from there to more detailed articles that people can actually learn things from! (Laugh.) It has been an enjoyable ride and I can't wait for the next round.
To mark this wonderful occasion for myself, I did one of my favorite things; research. I researched "100" all over the web and came up with some doosies. Take a look:
Did you know that Random House has a listing of Top 100 Novels? Check out this site and see how many you have read. They have two lists, one for the "Board" and one for the "Readers". It was fun to see how many I have read on both lists. Hey, Stephen King, my favorite author is listed twice on the Readers side. Nice!
My favorite kind of movie is a comedy. Laughing is great, and I have seen more comedies than any other genre. I found a site called Listology.com that has a list of 100 greatest comedies! What is your favorite movie genre?
Everyone wants to help and save the planet, right? Well, here is a list of 100 ways to save the environment. I read it through, and I bet there are plenty on this list that you do already on a daily basis! I might just print this list and hang it on the 'fridge for my son to do as well. That way he can't tell me I am making it up. (Gotta love eight year olds!)
Yourdictionary.com has a wonderful list that should help everyone every day. It is a list of 100 most popular misspelled words. If it wasn't for spell check, I would have plenty!
How about a group of photos from around the US about 100 years ago?
(All the photos are from PhotosofOldAmerica.com.)
Here is Geary Street in San Francisco in 1910. This was after the big quake of 1906, so many of the buildings are probably the same. I don't get up there very often. Born and raised in the Silicon Valley and I am terrified of the streets in San Francisco! Yes, I know... shameful... I know.
Have you ever heard of the Cliff House in San Francisco? Here is a picture of it, from 1907, with the house on fire. There are a lot of wonderful pictures at this site.
Here is a great picture from Downtown San Jose in 1906. This one has the electrical tower that illuminated the streets at night. Fascinating!
Now we go to New York. Here is a great picture from 1906 of some lunch carts in the Financial District. Look at the buildings and even the clothes. I love this era!
Here is a shot of Hester Street in 1910. According to the caption of the photo, it is on the lower east side of Manhattan.
I found a great shot of the Wright Brothers, remember them? This photo is from 1907 and is amazing!
How about we close this article with a bit of trivia?
What is the Roman numeral for 100?
Where is the light bulb located that has been burning straight for over 100 years?
What 100+ year old animal at the Vienna Zoo started a workout routine this past April?

Way to go for number 100. Have you seen the movie "Noises Off"? If not, check it out if you like to laugh. Very funny movie. Christopher Reeves, Carol Burnett and I don't remember the others, but it's well worth watching.
