My 1980's

Allana Calhoun
Most years of my childhood
in the 1980's they were spent
Many memories, bad and good
make me wonder where the years went

I was never into the current fads
Being a bit behind the times
Never cared about the hottest lads
or who was being tried for crimes.

Didn't care much about music lists
but remember BiIly Joel often in the car
as I was dragged from that place to this
Casey Casum named the Top 40's star

Then along came the poofy hair
hairspray was ever in the girls' bangs
Techno music had a place around there
Belinda, Tiffany and Bon Jovi also sang

The NKOB phenomenon
was a hit with me and my peers
giant hoop earrings were in fashion
for quite a while during those years

I'm glad those years are gone by
although I miss some things
but I live for the now and do try
to enjoy what the future brings.
