Lou Dobbs & Anderson Cooper

Benny Lee Kennedy
Every generation has it's voice in the newsroom. Journalists who tells the public what they need to hear regardless of it's popularity. In the 80's & 90's it was Tom Brokaw and Dan Rather doing whatever it took to get the Truth to the public. Today with the Internet and 24 hr news networks we turn to CNN when news breaks. Two well respected journalists have taken the responsibility to tell the truth... no matter what... Lou Dobbs and Anderson Cooper.

Lou Dobbs, author of the books Exporting America and War on the Middle Class takes an hour every weekday to fill us in on the issues. Often exposing today's government and social issues before anyone else. From reporting on the true dilemmas we face on immigration, to the trials we are up against with our economy Lou Dobbs never holds back the truth from Americans on the home front. It is equally as important in this global age to know about foreign policy and how our actions effect the world, and Anderson Cooper is "in the know". His uncensored look at the Iraq war along with his relentless effort to pull the cooperate media wool from our eyes and prepare Americans for possible dangers that most would choose to ignore until it is too late. Before Katrina hit New Orleans Anderson was doing everything he could to inform the public of the grave danger that was coming based on scientific evidence that some how was not released by our federal government. Anderson was also one of the first to give a point of view of the Iraq War that cooperate media is so often criticized for hiding.

I first discovered Lou Dobbs after my 30th birthday. I had been so upset over the lies being broadcast intertwined with the useless stories about drug addicted celebs that I was at my wits end. I was desperately seeking an answer to the question "What the heck is going on here?". After researching at my local library I found a book called War on the Middle Class. Upon reading it I found that no one else was talking about this in the media. Then I began taping Lou Dobbs Tonight discovering to my relief that there is a team of journalist that are answering my question. I have not been a fan of 24 hr. news since the OJ Trail. But, like most things there is good among the bad. Like Joe Friday Lou gets just the facts and re-instills the framework of our country through true debate style commentary. He doesn't just tell you the news he gets you involved by reading emails over the air, creating opinion polls and gets the opinions of all sides of the argument so you can decide for yourself as our founding fathers did.

Anderson Cooper brings the classic grass roots journalism that you only see now in the movies. His hit news show Anderson Cooper 360 is the only show I have found that will tell you straight, without any color what is going on from one fact to the next. He calls it "keeping them honest". I call it "about time". You may not like what Anderson is going to tell you but be rest assured he is telling you what you need to here. If you want to know what Paris Hilton ate while she was in jail Anderson Cooper is not your news guy. But, If you want to know if our food is safe or how the war is really being conducted in Iraq you should tune in and he will put you "in the know".

I know there are many other well respected journalists on TV that are worthy of mentioning like Glenn Beck, Wolfe Blitzer, and Brian Regal to name a few. Far be it from me to judge the integrity of the multitude of journalist in the media today. However when you need to be sure and curtain that the news isn't being tainted by cooperate lobbyist and political rhetoric tune in to Lou Dobbs tonight and Anderson Cooper 360... It may not be pretty but it's what you need to hear. Many of us today want to know what is happening in America and have had a real hard time finding out. Some have given up and concluded that the news is all lies. Take the time to see for yourself and feel the same relief I and many other have felt. Find out what the heck is going on today,
