The handling of the Volkswagen Passat is so sensitive that you feel like you are driving a race car. While this makes driving: 'O so much fun, you can get into trouble as well. I can often be cruising down the highway at 65 and not feel like I'm going a mile per hour over 55! It is a good thing this car has cruise control to limit my speed!!! At the stop sign, the power is great,; you can speed up very quickly if you need to. The steering is very tight and extremely responsive. Braking is equally reliable and stopping can be accomplished in a very short time should you need to stop quickly. We have had great success towing with this vehicle as well. We mounted a small class 3 hitch to the frame of the vehicle and have pulled a small boat and a 5 by 8 trailer with our Passat. The ride is always smooth and surprisingly quiet. The engine makes little sound and the exhaust system works great.
The inside of the car is designed to optimize space and for a small vehicle, there is lots of space! The front two bucket seats are adjustable in many ways so that you can fit it perfect to your body. They are firm, but soft and very supportive. The back seat is comfortable and spacious. WIth two car seats installed I can still sit in the middle to tend to the needs of my children on long car rides. I'm not sure 3 car seats would fit in the back, but a child could comfortably sit in the middle spot while two car seats are installed on the sides. The seats are a little low and the kids cannot see out the window very well, but that is similar to any small car. The control panel is very easy to read and displays all the necessary gauges. The radio and speaker system play music very well too. The Volkswagen Passat is a beautiful car, inside and out!
The trunk in the Volkswagen Passat is also very impressive! We can fit so much stuff in the trunk that sometimes things get lost! This is a great feature as many small cars have limited cargo space. We have gone on many long trips as a family in this car and have always had enough room to take along the essentials. When traveling with children, cargo space is extremely important. Air bag coverage is great with side air bags as an option. I feel very safe driving in this car.
The gas mileage on the Volkswagen Passat reaches up to 32 miles per gallon on the highway, which is very important when driving many miles. It is a very economical car that is great looking as well! The Passat is definately a winner in my book, and we'll look forward to owning one again in the future! It is just too fun to drive and should be tested by anyone in the car business!
