I am no different from everyone else, there are quite a few things that I would like to change that will take a bit of effort and determination to accomplish.
One, is to be more confident in public speaking. One way to accomplish that is to educate myself on the subject and be my own cheerleader. Taking a public speaking class at the local community college will help me in this journey.
Another resolution is to say more nice things to people and encourage them more. So many people are feeling down and discourage due to hard economic times or some are facing illness and I think that with a little encouragement from me could help put a smile on someone's face. I have signed up at my church to be part of the community outreach program that helps people that are down and out and need a little encouragement.
Swearing is another big one for me, not cuss words but insulting words. Because, swearing has almost become the norm in our society and I think there are a lot more effective ways of expressing one's emotion whether it's pain, disappointment or happiness. However, my swearing comes out of frustration. The important thing is to think before I speak and formulate what I want to say without swearing. And in some cases swearing embarrasses or upsets other party.
Stop eating Sugar
This is going to be the most challenging for me as I am a baker and a sugaraholic. It's hard to imagine not
consuming sugar, this is something I have been doing for many years on a daily basis. My main reason for wanting to stop with the sugar is health reasons, I would like to lose some weight but until I give up sugar that won't be possible. The main thing is to replace sugar with some thing and I chose dried fruits. These do have sugar but in it's natural form which is better for you. Sugar also slows you memory and clouds the mind which is no fun if you are writing. In an excerpt take from http://www.indigoextra.com/health_sugar.html states eating sugar leads to a reduced immune system, weight gain, lack of energy and general poor health. It's certainly something to stop or have very little of.
My plan is to lose 30lbs by March 30,2009. This resolution will go hand in hand with the elimination of sugar. My plan is eat less pastry and more vegetable, fresh fruits and take in more fiber. Drinking 8-10 ozs of water daily will help in reducing the weight. Another tip I picked up from a nutritionist is drinking two glasses of water first thing in the morning and drinking one glass before each meal, this will reduce the amount of food you eat in that meal.
Have more sex
Hopefully this resolution will not be difficult to accomplish if I can get my husband to agree to the increase in activities. More sex in a relationship is known to bring couples closer as they react to the more emotional and physical experiences. Sex is a great way to lose some extra pounds while getting closer to that special someone.
The key is to make the things you want to change a daily resolution and not only on New years; we say them and then forget about them, instead make them a staple in our lives.
