When I was pregnant, I started thinking about what kind of products I'd be using on my baby. I wanted to go as natural and organic as possible...especially since she was so little and so pure and natural to start out with. As she grows up, I continue to use mostly natural products on her. Here are five of my favorite brands of natural health and beauty products for kids.
Shampoo: I've tried lots of natural kids' shampoos and by far my favorite is Method Kids Squeaky Green 3 in 1 shampoo. It comes in two scents: Fuzzy Peach and Crisp Apple. I use the Fuzzy Peach scented kind, and it smells beautiful. What I love best about this shampoo is how well it works. It's a 99% natural, hypoallergenic 3-in-1 shampoo, conditioner and body wash. It works especially well on my daughter's hair, which is thin and curly and gets into knots easily. After using it her hair feels moisturized and is easier to manage. The shampoo is also tear-free and pediatrician tested.
Hand Soap: My favorite natural hand soap for kids (and myself) is BabyGanics' Fine and Handy hand soap. It has the most delicate, calming fragrance of lavender and vanilla. It foams up as you pump it onto your hand, which is always a plus with the kids. The formula is non-toxic and moisturizing.
Lotion: My favorite natural lotion for kids is actually a baby lotion. Baby Hugo Naturals Shea Butter Chamomile Oh-So-Soft Lotion is a soft-scented, gentle lotion perfect for babies and kids. Many of the ingredients are organic. It has no artificial fragrances or colors, parabens, petroleum, animal fats, or alcohols. I even use it sometimes and like how silky it makes my hands feel.
Toothpaste: My favorite natural toothpaste for kids is Jason's Kids Only! Toothpaste. I've tried it out for myself and have used it instead of my normal boring minty adult toothpaste from time to time. It has no SLS, and is gluten free. It comes in two flavors: orange and strawberry. We use the strawberry kind and it has a nice flavor without being overly sweet.
Sunscreen: BabyGanics Cover Up Baby Face and Body sunscreen is waterproof and has an SPF of 50 with broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection that lasts up to 80 minutes. It is fragrance free. It also doubles as a lotion by moisturizing! It's also free from PABA, parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.
