My 7-day Lemon-Detox Adventure

My First-hand Account of How to and Why to Detox

Amalynn
I decided to do the Lemon-Detox after talking to a friend who had tried it for 14 days. She ended up losing about a pound a day, she claimed. I needed a jump start on my weight-loss, and figured this would be a good way to do it, and cleanse my system at the same time. But i didn't want to commit to two weeks, so I decided to try it for 7 days, instead.

The Lemon-Detox is simple to mix. take 8 ounces of fresh spring water, squeeze in 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of Organic Maple Syrup, and a couple drops of cayenne pepper. Mix and drink, 6-8 glasses a day.

DAY 1

I decided to start right away, which meant the next day, a Sunday. I am notoriously impatient and wanted to do this. So I ran out to the nearest store to get the ingredients. The cayenne pepper, lemons and water were easy enough to find, but the maple syrup gave me trouble. The store I went to didn't have much in the way of organic food, so I picked up what seemed to be the next best thing, Grade A, not B, maple syrup. Figured it would work for now.

As soon as I got home I whipped up my drink. it was now 11:00 a.m. and I was hungry. I had already skipped my morning coffee and was not too happy about that. So, out came the tablespoons, I measured everything up, and took my first drink.....It wasn't bad! The recipe calls for 1/10 of a teaspoon of the cayenne pepper, which I pretty much intensely dislike, so that threw me off a bit. But the syrup makes up for it, you end up with a weird combination of sugary/hot lemony water. Different, but definitely drinkable. That first one tasted pretty good since I was hungry, it actually satisfied me for a minute.

12:00. Drink one more, this time less cayenne pepper.

12:30. I'm outside with my two young kids, and they're eating mac and cheese and hot dogs for lunch. My stomachs rumbling and I honestly feel like I'm going to throw up, probably from the pepper. I resist the urge, though, and it soon passes. The rumbling however, doesn't.

1:30. My kids want Nutty Buddy's. You know, the ice cream with the chocolate, and nuts, in a cone? Torture. Especially when my daughter tries to give me a lick. But I held fast and didn't try it.

1:45. Found the bottom of my daughters Nutty Buddy that she didn't finish on the table. begged her to finish it, she refused, so I shoved it in my mouth. Closed my eyes and slowly chewed, savoring every chew. Oh my God, was that good. Inwardly wrestled about scarfing down a whole one. I didn't, though. Well, OK, I didn't until about 2:00 pm. Decide to wait another day to start this.

DAY 2

I ran out right away to find the right syrup. After three different stores, I settled on the best thing I could find, Organic Maple Syrup. At 12 bucks a bottle. Even the cashier commented on the "expensive syrup!" But now I had the right tools to begin.

Mixed up my first drink around 11:00 am. Felt good after drinking it. At 12:30, I didn't do too bad with the kids lunches, just had another drink. This time, I added more cayenne pepper. I'm actually getting used to the taste of it!

Made it all the way up til 8:00 at night, when my son ate everything from dinner except for his grilled cheese. Willpower fell to the side as I scarfed the whole thing down. But you know what? I felt like crap for hours afterward and wished I hadn't eaten it, more because of the nausea I felt than anything.

DAY 3

I decided right off the bat I needed my coffee. Its been over 24 hours without caffeine for me. Within an hour, I was nervous and shaky from one cup. I tried to take away the caffeine high with one of my drinks. I'm actually getting used to this stuff! I was fine until, oh, 4:00 pm. Then it got hard. I was irritable, tired, and didn't dare go into the kitchen. Getting the kids something to eat was a nightmare. I drank so much of my drink I started getting sick. I nibbled a bit, had a couple french fries and a handful of cooked carrots. That was it! Went to bed early to ignore my stomach.

DAY 4

Today was a good day. I felt great all day long! Only cheated a couple times, and it was just a couple nibbles. And you know what? Those few bites made me feel so FULL! I sucked down my detox all day long, and had lots of energy. Stayed up late on the computer and didn't snack like I usually do. My stomach was rumbling a bit when i went to bed, but I ignored it.

DAY 5

Weighed myself this morning, I have lost 4 pounds! Amazing. Started the day out good, but I was hungry by 11 am. Struggled through the kids lunches. At 3pm I succumbed and had 2 pierogies and some vegetables. Oh well, theres always tomorrow, right? Although I did eat a bit more the rest of the night, it was nothing like I normally eat.

DAY 6

Today is going to be hard. I work in an Italian restaurant for a 7 hour shift. I started out with some weak coffee...I know that I'm not supposed to have caffeine but thats soooo hard! Have had 2 lemon drinks so far, and I feel pretty good. Will update after work!
Ok did pretty well at work, although I did have a small cup of soup. Other than that felt great! I had plenty of energy to spare, yes I was hungry but not as much as I thought I would be.

DAY 7

Since this is my last day, it was easy doing well. I went the whole day without eating a thing! And I felt good again. I wasn't tired, or nauseuas, I had energy and just kept busy. Didn't think about eating too much!

DAY 8 - FINAL WEIGH-IN

I have lost a total of 6 pounds from my fast. Not too bad! Now on to the diet and exercise part of my plan. The Lemon-Detox worked great for me, and I will definitely be recommending it to my friends.
