My AC Success Story

Balancing Work and Homeschool

Lynda Altman
Producing content for Associated Content has helped my freelance career and enabled me to homeschool at the same time. Although I am not raking in the big bucks from AC, it has supplemented my freelance writing and it is far more profitable than other online entities such as elance, guru, and rent-a-coder. This is my AC success story.

I have been writing for AC since March 2008. It started with an article that a client wanted me to write about their business. From there is has expanded to the point that I can either submit content through AC calls for content or I submit articles that I write on my own. AC has given me a lot of exposure as a writer, far more that I would have received elsewhere. The income I am earning from AC is giving me the opportunity to work from home and homeschool my youngest child. With the flexibility of AC I am able to be the baseball mom, shuttle my 2 older kids around, and attend all of the homeschool meeting and events while still putting money in the bank. In addition, AC has become one of the "showcases" for my work.

If you take it from a pure business perspective, AC is a fabulous way to get paid for writing. My overhead for producing AC content is next to nothing. I type extremely fast. I did not need to purchase anything in order to start submitting content. There are no processing fees to accept payment from AC. So from a business perspective, I make money with every article. Even articles that I submit as display only or PPV only generate profit. To date, my greatest AC success was an article that I wrote about Angel Matos kicking an Olympic referee in the face. This article has had almost 6,000 hits and although there was no upfront payment, the PPV and the advance in ranking more than makes up for that.

While I am not making millions of dollars a year on AC, I am supplementing my income. This extra income allows me the flexibility to raise my kids and live the life that I want to. Homeschooling is easier for me because of AC. The added income allows me to purchase the exact curriculum I want without having to worry about money. Overall, AC has been a success for me in the short amount of time I have been producing content here.
