My Advice on Getting More Out of Life

Bill Hanks
As I have gotten older, I have learned to get a bit more out of life by doing some things a little different. Some of them are out of my comfort zone. However, I decide to give some things a try. As you read this article, and find something that you would like to add, please do so in the comment section. I am always looking for something out of the ordinary to try.

My Advice
1. Sit in the front row. I know it is tough to do at a movie theater. However, try your church or classroom. You will get more involved by doing so.
2. Listen to Talk Radio. Dump the music and continue to educate yourself.
3. Try the more expensive premium gas at your station. Try a full tank. See if it makes a difference in your vehicle.
4. Go to bed early. Try this for one week and examine the difference in your productivity.
5. Walk or jog barefoot. Find a good beach or a safe grass area and try it.
6. Take a very cold shower. Try this when you have had a very physical day at work. Keep it a short period.
7. Let your spouse do the driving. If you drive everyplace, switch off. Observe closely what is happening outside your vehicle, as you drive around.
8. Call on your worst client. Many of us have someone we want to avoid. Do a change of pace and call on them. If nothing else, check on their well being.
9. Don't pray for someone, pray with them. If you discover that someone is having a bad event in their life, pray with them on the spot. Anyone can say, "I will pray for you."
10. Order the most expensive item on the menu. Yes, you have to budget for this. You deserve to treat yourself once in a lifetime.
11. Sponsor a child in the "Feed the Children" program.
12. Try a different look in clothes and hairstyle.
13. Set your next days schedule the night before. Write it out.
14. Recognize your best time of the day. When do you perform best? Many of us know, but if not, find it.
15. Talk to a janitor or a porter. These are the people that clean your butt cans and restrooms. Don't just say hello. Actually get involved in a good conversation with them. Make them feel important.

I could add others, but this is a good start. I will leave the adding to others as this goes out across the net.

I love the idea of continuing to educate yourself. Never too old to learn. :-)

Great list! I talk to our custodians all the time and they have told me that our department is one of the few departments that actually talk to them. They are treated as though they are invisible. That's just tacky in my opinion.

Good advice, except I disagree about #2. So much talk radio is not educational.

This is a great list. You're right, there are even more opportunities. The one at the top of my list would be keep quiet for 10 minutes and just let someone else talk.

I really like these because it's too easy to get in a rut in our lives. Unfortunately, we don't realize it until something takes you out of your comfort zone. I've done several of these. I laughed because I have sat in the front row of the movie, and you're right, it makes a difference. A big difference and a loud one, too. LOL
