I love getting my thoughts out on paper. Whether it's in my journal, on my blog, or on Associated Content, I love getting words out of my brain and into something coherent. However, I need focus and concentration to find the right words to string together. One of my writing nemesis' is random background noise. I need to control what kind of noise is happening in the background. I'm in the sitting room right now at my in-laws, and my father in-law is playing GI Joe with my nephew (After an afternoon of looking after him, I get to be on the computer :). The guns are blazing and my nephew's sound effects are like a cheesy 60's war movie. In the other room a TV is spitting out the latest news, and upstairs my wife and mother-in-law are catching each other up on the latest family news (they are Italian, so their voices carry). So in iTunes I have a soundtrack entitled "Writing Music." In it is a growing list of songs that provide my "white noise;" music that helps me concentrate and focus on the task at hand. Most of these songs fall into the alternative rock genre, as that is my preferred genre of choice. I am going to focus on the top 10, and a link to my Amazon store, where you can purchase them. Check them out and I encourage you to create and control your background noise with a soundtrack.
