My Associated Content Vs. Ehow.com Experiment: Which One Really Paid More?

A Unbiased Account Featuring Twelve Articles and Performance Bonuses

Aimee E
As a writer who is always looking to make more income, I frequent writer's forums to see the latest news about online web publishing sites. On numerous dates, and in more than one forum, Ehow writers were expressing their enthusiasm about making five dollars, six dollars, sometimes even more off of a single article due to performance pay. I thought this was such a great idea that I decided to submit ten articles, to get an average amount of performance money to me made; so that I can get an honest and accurate count.

Later, after submissions, my article totals ended up being twelve. The results? AC, by far, surpassed any revenue I made in my Ehow account. All of my AC articles are submitted for performance pay only, however, even taking that into consideration, I still faired better at AC.

Now, I am not one to spam message boards with my articles, and no matter what site people write for, as I have seen that happen all over different forums. In my articles, the keywording, content, and article formats were the exact same. To date, each one of my AC articles has earned at least something; while about 75% of my Ehow articles have not even earned a penny! Yes, I know they were viewed because they were rated and commented on, but unlike here on AC, that didn't add to my writer's bonus.

So how do I feel about the "Writer's Compensation Program" at Ehow? I will just post my articles over there anyways, as that will put them to good use. If anyone is considering writing for Ehow, I would suggest applying through Demand Studios, as the pay is far superior to what I have earned with my "performance" experiment. Now, I know I will have people coming over here and defending how much they make on Ehow and how little they make on AC, but to each their own. I don't Digg, use My Space, Facebook, Stumble Upon or any of those other sites, as I have no interest in them. I just enjoy writing and researching; and my marketing efforts are left up to querying. If this works for some, then that's great, but I'll stick to my routine. Also, the AC's site is more user-friendly, as I am constantly getting told to keep logging in to Ehow, sessions are timing out, and I am having an almost impossible time trying to upload articles and check performance stats.

To be fair, I do plan on updating this article throughout the year to provide a fair update on both site's article performance. Look for my next update which will include more articles and a better analysis over a greater period of time to come out next month.

Well, I wrote one article at eHow and then I forgot about it. But when I looked back at the site I was shocked at how much money the article made - and not in a bad way. Needless to say, I'm back at eHow and I plan on writing an article a day. I wrote my second article today. I love their publishing tool, too.

Please do update us when a year has passed. I'm very interested in the long term benefits of ehow vs ac. Thank you

I was just considering eHow. Glad I read your article.

I'd love to see an update to this article. I personally find eHow to be very profitable and a great social community as well. I have eight articles that have earned over $100 each -- yes, that's right, and my highest earner is over $400--and dozens that have earned over $20/each. I share my tips in an eBook entitled How to Earn Passive Income at eHow.com: Residual Income for Web Content Writers. I really think the method I use works well and the results are excellent.
I'd be curious to know if your eHow articles have been earning money and if you've written more. Oh, and I don't spend much time promoting, either ... too busy! ;)
