My Biggest 2010 Resolution: Achieve Better Health

Jenny Heart
Health has been of great concern this year. I will talk about 5 things that I need to do to achieve better health and well being for myself. I'll talk about exercise, eating healthier, making more time for my husband, teaching my daughter to live more independently, and putting all things together with a big handful of faith. My biggest 2010 resolution is to achieve better health.

Here are 5 things I should do to achieve better health. I've listed 5 goal reaching ideas.

Start exercising.

Will get up each morning with a new committed attitude. Remember to exercise for at least 15 minutes a day to start out with. Then, work my way up to about 45 minutes daily. Since I'm on the computer a lot I should exercise regularly. Place exercise reminders on the refrigerator. That way I'll see these gentle reminders when I first start my day.

Eat healthier.

Make a list of healthier food choices for mealtimes and snacks. Fish, turkey burgers are just a few of the different food choices I'll be altering. More fish less beef. Visit health food stores for healthier choice options. Read more fitness and health magazine for great tips on healthy eating.

Make more time for my husband.

Since my one daughter's disability, I've been absorbed in her disability maybe a little too much. Love for them both must find a happy medium. I plan on writing on a calendar days that will be set a side for both of them, together or apart. I have another daughter who lives far away. I need to learn to find balance between the three of us. Then I can have time for her too.

Teach my daughter to be more independent.

My daughter had a bad virus when she was very young and faces many challenges. I should give her more responsibility and trust. My daughter and I will start cooking together more. This time she's going to do most of the cooking. This will help build confidence in the both of us for a better 2010. My husband and I must learn to let go of past expectations and focus on the better days that are ahead. Living one day at a time will help us find our way. This is an important goal for me to reach. Then I can achieve my 2010 resolution.

Have more faith.

Many people know my Dad has cancer. He's starting Chemotherapy this week. I've been thinking about this too much. This 2010 I'll practice having the faith of a mustard seed that's talked about in the Bible. Then, I'll just walk with God in peace.

These great resolutions for 2010 will happen after all my steps have been finished.

Your resolutions are inspiring to me :-) Are you up to 45 minutes/day? If I was aware of your dad's illness, I'm sorry to say I'd forgotten and appreciate being reminded so I can now make sure he and you and all your family are now part of my daily prayers, honestly - Please feel free to contact me privately - The cancer battle is fought in many ways and I've been in your place. I think I'll take a walk today and start my 15 to 45 minute goal too - Boy do I ever need it :-) Write on!

It's good that you've set some concrete steps to help you achieve your goals. And I like how you've picked up on better health as including relational, emotional, and spiritual well-being, not just physical. I hope you make progress this year.
