The Kyocera KR1 Mobile Router is the simplest and cheapest way to avoid having to purchase separate PC Cards and Data packages for each individual notebook computer. It is a fully functional 802.11 g wireless router that includes four port switch and also has a slot for a PC Card. The only issue that some mobile users may have with this device is that it is designed for the EV-DO network only. That means that it is available only to Sprint, Verizon, or Alltel customers.
You should be made aware that once you are connected to the internet on the KR1 Mobile Router it is an unsecured wireless connection. This will allow you to quickly log on to the network and browse the internet. To avoid this issue, you may want to configure the wireless connection with a minimum 128 bit WEP security setting. This will prevent prying eyes and identity thieves from grabbing your personal information.
Although this device will provide you with a convenient and cheaper wireless internet connection, don't expect to hold your very own multi gaming competition. The speeds would be too slow to support that sort of access and data transferring. Your network will be limited to the bandwidth of your cellular provider. There may be locations that have no coverage for the EV-DO network and if that is the case then do not expect to get any sort of internet connection.
The KR1 Mobile Router is a great solution for anyone looking for sharing their cellular data plan with multiple notebook or desktop computers. It will help save you from all of the added costs of purchasing individual equipment and data packages. These things are already pricey and would definitely place a dent in your wallet.
