My Children
A Poem I Wrote for My Children a Few Years Ago
My children are my life, my world
all three of them the same.
In my heart not one is better
I try and show each one equal fame.
I hope they all grow big and strong
go to school and finish it through.
Do better than their parents did
and show us both just what they can do.
Children change your life forever
it's so wonderful in ways;
But in others it's so scary
because I try and number my days.
Just how much of their life
will I be allowed to see?
High school, college, parties where they're free
scary thoughts, grand-kids in my life? Maybe!
