My Dear, I'm Glad it Was You

Mario V. Farina

My Dear,
for the times I was blue,
when you might have been too,
but you spoke to me words
of support and of hope,
I'm so grateful to you.

When
I needed a friend
to share joys of success
or the pains when I fell,
I knew it was true,
I could call upon you.

My dear,
for the days that we talked
and the nights that we dined
then sat still in the dark
and watched the stars in review
I'm so glad 'twas with you.

Though
I'm so shy at revealing
the thoughts in my heart,
I'm glad with the thought
that the person who touched me,
so tenderly touched me, was you.
