My Dell Computer: Grammatik is the Best Feature

Leigh Vaughn
I absolutely could not live without my Dell desk top computer. I wouldn't know what to do with myself. I recently became disabled and found I could earn money doing online surveys. I also found sites where you can get free stuff, who doesn't like a free sample in the mail. I also found I like to write. I also love photography, travel and uploading pictures online to email. I have found a few sites where I can get paid to write articles and upload photos. Instead of Word, I got Word Perfect on my new Dell. I love it. When I go to write articles I just hit Grammatik and it checks my spelling, grammar and punctuation. I love it!

My Current Dell Computer

The Dell desk-top computer I have now was purchased in 2002 and it's still going strong. I have a DVD/CD Rom. I have Windows XP, Word Perfect, (which came free with the computer). I added a larger monitor, 17" and extra memory, 512 RAM and speakers to the basic package. I believe it came to about $950 or so with the additional items. It was so easy to put together with the directions I got from Dell. I was up and going in no time.

Word Perfect

I never had word Perfect before and wasn't sure I would like it as well as Word. Once I got used to it, I liked it better. My favorite part is using the Grammatik Tool. Grammatik corrects my spelling, my grammar and my punctuation! I love it! I write my article first and then use Grammatik. I was always good with spelling, but not as good with proper punctuation and grammar. It's a tremendous help if you like to write.

My Previous Dell Computer

My first computer purchase was Dell as well. I ordered my first Dell online with the help of my uncle. It was the easiest, most pressure free shopping experience I ever had. I purchased my first Dell in 1996. Way back then, it cost me almost $2,000. I had Word, Excel, speakers and extra memory on that one. I did get free shipping on this one. After seven years it finally slowly started slowing done and having problems. When I called Tech services, they could not believe it lasted as long as it did.

Dell Promotions

Dell is always offering free promotions online and offline. Many times you can get free shipping or a rebate. Also, they mail you a catalog periodically, offering special deals. You can get free online updates as well. Anytime you check they offer some kind of special promotion. I tend to like free shipping the best, but I'll go for rebates too.

Dell Support

I have had to call Dell support a couple of times and they are the most patient, helpful people I have ever dealt with. There is also a Dell community to help your answer frequently asked questions. I just found out today, Dell offers Live Chat service from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. CST. I really like that!

Need Accessories or Want to Upgrade?

Dell can assist you with this as well through the chat line or the toll-free Number. You may need a new mouse or decide you would like to have speakers or a new program added on. Whatever you are looking for Dell is there to support you.

Shipping Costs and Financing

The least expensive desktop computer I could find started at around $619, which is a basic starting price. All add ons are additional and your choice to make. The least expensive notebook I found was $544.00, including a 15.4" display and free shipping. If your promotion does not offer free shipping, the shipping for a notebook or laptop starts at $49.00 and $99.00 for a Dell desk top. Dell does offer financing to make it easier for you to get your Dell computer.

How to order from Dell

You can place your order online, where you can take your time figuring out what you want to add to the basic computer. Once your order is completed, you can print out a copy of the order, if you have a printer. If you don't have a printer, don't worry, you will receive an email confirmation and E.T.A. from Dell within 48 hours. You may also order on Dell's toll-free number found on the Dell web site or search for a Dell Direct Store, also found on the Dell web site.

I had WordPerfect before and liked it better than Word, too. It could do some things better, like formatting books and booklets for printing. Good article.

This was a good review; the only thing you left out is whether Dell gives you backup disk in case you have to reformat your computer. You also didn't cover all the programs you recieved with the computer besides wordperfect.
