My Dictionary

Day Forty-Seven

Diane Zoller-Ciatto
The dictionary has been my friend,
Since I was a small child.
I'd look up words I didn't know
And let my imagination run wild.

Nowadays the internet makes it easy to find,
The meanings of the unusual ones.
But I still like having the book at hand,
You see, I was taught by the nuns.

If I would ask what does that word mean?
I'd be met with a hard-hearted leer.
So I'd just grab the dictionary and look it up,
Rather than suffer a cauliflower ear!

My mother was educated by nuns too. And she made me use the dictionary since a tiny child. LOL God bless.

I always look things up online when I need to, but I still have my old Funk and Wagnalls two volume dictionary from 1975!

@Morag, I think it's still OK to kiss a nun, as long as you don't get into the habit!
