My Dream of Becoming a TV/Radio News Presenter

Being a TV/Radio News Presenter isn't just a job, it is a skill. It requires dedication, self belief, passion for news and current affairs, ambition and more! A person may have a degree in Journalism but without these qualities they will not be successful. I believe I will succeed in the area of Media and Journalism work because I am patient, dedicated and have great desire to entertain and advise people about their communities.

I may not have all the necessary experience, certificates but I have done so much in my 21 years of life, that I believe makes me a stand out candidate and one with the ability to do anything I set my mind too. Not to mention my natural ability to publicly speak in front of large crowds as I have done in National Public Speaking Contests, School Events, Corporate Functions and so on. Being able to understand what goes on in our community and environments is only one aspect of what news is presenting is all about. To be able to communicate with any person, race, and religion at all levels using my highly developed communication skills are a very rare and important attribute.

Most people in Media feel obliged to come to work but I would thoroughly enjoy it. I may not have shared the same experience as other Pubic Speakers/Presenters but I can attempt to understand how they are feeling, it is the excitement of having your thoughts heard publicly and providing communities with the information they have every right to know. If I place myself in their position, at their level, I may gain the knowledge and understanding needed to become like them. I have often used this skill when volunteering in school, social and corporate environments.

I come from a non English speaking background, I speak Arabic, Egyptian and of course English as I have been born and raised here so I think this gives me greater understanding and I can open my eyes to our multi cultural community and understand it more. I never stress because I exhibit patience and thrive on any challenges thrown at me.

Compassion and the desire to present news and current affairs to people are also important attributes, and these are also evident in me. I have the desire to help others which has been exhibited in my previous volunteer work for the Cancer Council, SIDS, Emily Lenny Nursing Home, Kicks fm, Nova and various other charitable and social events.

I have previously organized fundraisers for all these charitable events and the feeling I acquire from knowing I am contributing to saving a persons life is overwhelming. Even just working on the student representative council as the council treasurer and teaching young girls to belly dance. I receive no greater satisfaction than when I see someone succeed beyond their expectations because of my help or when someone is not feeling their best and I make them smile. I take great pleasure in helping my family and I find volunteering a fun experience.

I am hoping for an opportunity to work within the media industry as I believe this is an area existent for people like me. I love the environment and I would love the experience and assisting your organisation even with some casual volunteer work to showcase my skills so that in time I can be given opportunities that not many people are given nowadays.
