I dreamt of you last night
I could yet see your goodness
your promise
still you chose to do wrong
even in my sleep
it's a losing battle
that I choose to keep fighting
still loving you
still standing on the outside looking in
because i'm not included
you only let me in
when you're bored
or lonely
until then I am like a pet
i'm sheltered and fed
and ignored unless it's convenient
for you to notice me
if you're not busy
or too tired
or thinking about something else
or someone else
I am here
but am I?
