We of course got out of the car and tried to get a little closer to get a closer glimpse. It was pretty exciting to get as close as we already have, considering most movie sets in California won't let anyone too close to where they are filming. However, in this case, they didn't stop us, but instead invited us onto the set. This whole experience started becoming quite surreal for me and my family, but we weren't going to turn down a once and a lifetime experience.
We later found out that we were at a scene that featured Dan Aykroyd. We were getting pretty hopeful that we might actually get to see him for a quick second. Well, not only did we catch a glimpse of Dan Aykroyd, but he invited us onto the scene where he was filming. He was dressed in golf clothes and ready to shoot the next scene which had him standing in the middle of a parking lot. We were all a little taken back by the inviting behavior that the entire cast was setting forth.
My sister and I walked up to Dan Aykroyd and introduced ourselves, and he was one of the most pleasant people I've ever met. We were of course star struck and didn't quite know what to say to him, but didn't need to do much talking. He surprisingly gave us a whole run down of the scene, what the movie was about and who else was starring in it. He asked us a few questions, gave us hugs, and thanked us for coming by. All and all he probably spent about 5-10 minutes talking to us as if we'd known him for years.
We were really shocked by the whole experience, and honored to have met such a wonderful and down to earth actor. We were especially excited to see the movie when it came out, and to see the scene that we were actually standing on minutes before being filmed.
It's always nice to know that the movie stars you see starring in your favorite movies are real people, and very friendly at that. From that point on, I've always been a big fan of all of Dan Aykroyd's movies. He's a great actor and a great person.
