My Experience with Male Fertility Testing

Autism-Dad-1
Male fertility testing is something most people have never heard or thought about. It is a fact that nearly 50 % of all infertility problems are due to male infertility. I was like most, when I was younger I did not think about being infertile, in fact I stayed away from intercourse until I met and thought I was in love with a girl. Anyhow we won't go any deeper into that aspect of my life. Sometime later in life I realized I wanted to have children and decided to check if I was even capable of it. At the time I had good insurance (no such thing these days!) I went to my doctor and asked about male fertility testing. What was the process, how much it cost and etc.... Come on guys do not be embarrassed. The first thing my doctor did was send me to an urologist. I had to give a semen example right then and there of course I was allowed some privacy. The reason is it is important for the Semen analysis to be done immediately. Now my semen test came back normal and to be thorough I submitted to another test to confirm the first test. It also came back normal. I could have children and now currently I have 5. This is as far as my personal experience in male fertility testing has taken me.

If you do have problems discovered then you will be given urinary as well as blood tests. There are a wide range of cause of male infertility ranging from wearing tight jeans (excessive heat), Sexual Transmitted diseases, physical damage, drug use, and Sexual dysfunction just to name a few. Typically the only pain involved in the testing is emotional. In most cases such as low sperm count the doctor may recommend less intercourse to build up your sperm count. Some studies have shown an increase in sperm count by taking vitamins such as zinc and folic acid. In other cases it may be necessary for artificial insemination. If you are dealing with infertility issues are sure to express your feelings with your spouse or if you are really upset speak with a counselor or go to a men's group on the subject. If you are spouse of or know a person with male infertility problems be considerate and help them understand that it is much more common then they may think. Remember that if you are not able to conceive a child then you always have the option of adoption. Assisted reproduction techniques such as artificial insemination are very expensive. It is vital for the male be tested for fertility as soon as possible to help prevent costly and difficult times attempting to become pregnant. It is easier and quicker to rule out the male as the cause of infertility through fertility testing then the woman. Good luck and remember you are not alone if you and your wife want to have a child then get yourself tested for fertility right now.
