There are other symptoms to look for such as lower abdominal pain, but I don't know any women that have p.m.s. with out lower abdominal pain. A few more symptoms of PID are spotting between periods, well as you can see if you don't have a perfect period that is right on schedule you might not even know you have PID for quite some time.
There are many more symptoms of PID such as:
pain and tenderness in the lower abdomen
foul-smelling or abnormally colored discharge
pain during sexual intercourse
spotting between periods
chills or fever
nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
loss of appetite
backache and perhaps even difficulty walking
painful or more frequent urination
pain in the upper abdomen on the right
Okay so getting back to me, I wasn't sure I had PID for about a month and a half, wow not only was that a long time but a lot of unnecessary pain to boot. I was sickly, very snappy at every one because of the amount of pain I was in, and there was nothing I could do about it.
The Gynecologist performed a series of routine tests; she put me on antibiotics while waiting for my test results. She was happy she knew what was wrong but at the same time upset that I had PID for so long. The doctor said it could have potentially caused so many more severe problems such as chronic pelvic pain, ectopic pregnancy, and infertility.
My advice to any women suffering from lower abdominal pain now or any of the other symptoms mentioned previously is to make an appointment and have it checked out. I think the worse thing that could happen is everything turns out fine.
And if it turns out you do have PID then you can go ahead and get that taken care of before it causes you any more pain and medical problems.
If there is something you have experienced that perhaps I have left out, after you have read this please leave a comment at the end. As women especially I think we should stick together and help each other out.
