My Experience with Spucer

A New Outlet for Freelance Writers

Chen Salis
Spucer is one of the newest sites available for freelance writers to submit content and earn money. I heard about Spucer in January and I signed up immediately. As a writer I am always seeking other venues for earning money.

Spucer accepts articles that are 500 words or longer and the articles must be free of grammar and spelling errors to qualify for payments. Payments are very low, at $1 per article. When I signed up there was no minimum amount stated for payout, and this company claimed they would purchase articles on any subject. One dollar isn't much, but I can come up with 500 words quite easily, and I hoped this would be a good outlet for opinion and editorial pieces that generally are not purchased by Associated Content.

When I signed up there were not many writers for the site, as it is new. I hoped by getting in early I could make my place at Spucer and begin earning more money for my articles. I did not want to submit too many articles just in case this was not a legitimate venue. I wrote 6 which were quickly accepted and published, and I was informed that I would get a 50 cent bonus for being in the first 50 submitted articles. It sounded good.

When the pay day rolled around I was not exactly shocked when nothing went to my paypal account from Spucer. They have a weird system where 1 month and I believe 20 days later you get paid. I held onto hope, and I assumed that maybe I had miscalculated my pay day. I checked out their forum to discover they had changed their rules. You must have a balance of $10 to qualify for payment, and now articles had to be what they deemed interesting to others and helpful. OK, whatever. I submitted 4 more articles to have enough for payout, just in case I did not see my 50 cent bonus on the 6 previously submitted articles. As of 5 weeks later my articles are still pending, they have not been accepted or declined.

I have not heard from anyone that they have been paid. I have referrals which are intended to increase my earnings, they have already published 6 of my articles, and I doubt if I ever see a penny of my earnings. I have no idea if I have had any of my referrals credited to my account, there is no way to check your account balance, and after a lot of research I have found nothing about this company online.

It is set up through a word press blog, which seems funny to me. Why would a legitimate company use a free blog as their host? If you are considering writing for spucer I would recommend you hold off for a while. There is no guarantee you will get paid. It has been over 3 months since I first submitted my writing to Spucer and I have yet to see a single cent of my earnings.
